Google Glass has seen its share of scrutiny since review units have landed in the hands of tech enthusiasts. Restaurants and other locations have banned the new technology from being worn inside their buildings, and now it looks like the police are not too fond of them neither.
Cecilia Abadie got a ticket yesterday for driving while wearing Google Glass. She was not too happy about it, so she went to her G+ page to rant about it, and to ask for anyone’s advice on the matter. Apparently the cop listed her wearing Glass while driving as, “driving with Monitor visible to Driver.” This happened in California, and yes, she is most likely going to fight it in court. She will most likely not win.
As much as Google Glass is suppose to give us hands free access to the internet, it is still a distraction. It is lame I know, but sadly, that is just the way it goes. I live in California and one of my friends got a ticket for having too many things dangling from her rear-view mirror. That just shows you the petty things cops will use to write you a ticket, at least out her in California. Who knows if Google plans on addressing this matter, but as of right now, DO NOT GLASS AND DRIVE.
