Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon SoCs are the most popular smartphone processors ever and now the company has revealed the clock speeds of the Snapdragon 810, which is likely to power most high-end Android phones next year.
The Snapdragon 810 is going to feature four powerful Cortex A57 cores and four power-savvy Cortex A53 cores. The high-performance A57 cores will be clocked at 1.96GHz (1958MHz), while the power-efficient A53 cores will run at the clock speed of 1.56GHz (1555MHz).
It is notable that the clock speeds of the Snapdragon 810 will be lower than the Snapdragon 805 that can be clocked up to 2.65GHz. One of the biggest reasons for that is, the 805 is a quad-core chip while the 810 is an octa-core one. Secondly, the Snapdragon 805 comes with Qualcomm’s Krait 450 cores, while the next generation is going to feature ARM’s Cortex A57 and A53 cores.
Another major difference between the two SoCs is their manufacturing process. The 64-bit Snapdragon 810 is manufactured on 20nm process, while the 32-bit Snapdragon 805 is built on a less-efficient 28nm lithography.
