The Samsung Galaxy S6 rumours are still coming in thick and fast today. Today’s rumour says that the Samsung Galaxy S6 won’t be waterproof, and neither will its expected curved edge variant, the Galaxy S6 Edge. This is significant as its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, surprised everyone with its IP67 rated certification, allowing it to be under 1 metre of water for 30 minutes, so it’s clear that Samsung is taking the Galaxy S6 in a new, different direction.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S5 still had an Active variant despite covering most of the bases being covered by the base Galaxy S5, but it’s rumoured that there will be a Galaxy S6 Active, and that it will be waterproof as an alternative to those who want a Galaxy S6 with waterproofing. It’s rumoured this strategy is to allow Samsung to increase profit margins on the Galaxy S6 – certification isn’t free after all – something that should help given Samsung’s struggles last year. The Galaxy S6 is definitely shaping up to be an interesting device, even allegedly changing up its battery and back cover formula; we can’t wait to see what’s in store at MWC 2015 in just over a month.
