Sony’s New S2 Tablet to Head to AT&T

According to a release today by Sony, they will be working hand in hand with AT&T to bring its latest tablet to users hands.

“We’re pleased to be working with AT&T on yet another unique mobile device,” said Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Networked Technology and Services Division at Sony Electronics. “AT&T provides the speed and coverage that are integral to the different features and functions of our tablet. We value our relationship as they share our commitment to growing the ‘Sony Tablet’ and the tablet market overall.”

The Sony S2 doesn’t have an official name yet for you to start watching out for, but it does have a pretty unique design. Reminds me of the Kyocera Echo that Sprint carries but with a better design and in tablet form. It will be the worlds first clam shell Android Tablet, sporting dual screens. Each screen measures in at 5.5 inches giving you a total viewing area of 11 inches. The S2 will come packing Android 3.x Honeycomb and judging from the video leak I found, looks like dual cameras and USB. I couldn’t tell if it had a HDMI out or not. It is possible though. This tablet will also be the first tablet to be Playstation Certified. That means we should see the same gaming compatibility as the Xperia Play. I am curious if Sony will put together a USB or Bluetooth controller accessory.

There is still no word on pricing for this device since it is still not officially close to launch. I would imagine the pricing to be very competitive to what we see currently.

How many of you would like to get your hands on a Dual Screen tablet? I’m not so sure I am ready for one.
