At Last We Hear More on the Samsung Hercules! It is T-Mobiles Variant of the Galaxy S II

Am I happy about this latest news? Sure I am, who wouldn’t be? Am I slightly sad that it isn’t going to be a step up from the Galaxy S II line like I have heard about and read before, yes. It is still great news to finally get some sort of official confirmation of T-Mobile launching a Galaxy S II device on its network. This device should be the carriers first major plunge into HSPA+ 42Mbps. That alone should almost be enough to push buyers to this device.

I might not be all that thrilled about the name of the devices, but I’ll get over it. The stealthy assasins that have made a few confirmations for us. it will be sporting a 4.5″ display, Netflix is preinstalled and working perfectly, the messaging, email and calendar apps have all been updated and function and look better than the stock ones provided form Google.

It looks pretty sleek. The battery panel looks like it might be aluminum. That of course could change by the time we see this device. You can easily see an 8 MP camera with a flash, many people complained about not having a flash on the Vibrant. You can see what appears to be a front facing camera as well.  It is highly likely this will feature full NFC support. But what is still a bit blurry at the moment is the processor. It will no doubt be packing a dual core chipset. Some are saying it is Qualcomm or say it is the Samsung Exynos. The only reason this would concern me at all is because we are used to Qualcomm running in devices from HTC and Motorola. Samsung changed that game with the original Galaxy S by using their Hummingbird processor. Qualcomm makes an excellent chipset, but I would like to see this device sporting more Samsung products inside.

I will still be keeping a close eye on this device, it is most likely my next phone. Anyone else out there ready for the SGS II to not only roll stateside but also hit T-Mobile?
