Samsung gets dual-screen patent, might show Sony how it is Done

We really aren’t sure what to think about this Samsung dual screen patent. The filing depicts the use of two 7-inch screens attached with a hinge that lets it open up like a laptop, kinda like the Sony Tablet S and Tablet P. Additionally there is supposed to be a remote control of sorts that is to also accompany the device. Reportedly aimed as a business-orientated tool for use during presentations and the likes.

Samsung is no stranger to innovation or amazing products, but are dual screens the next big thin in the market place? While it would be nice to be able to rock a movie on one screen while I am checking email or talking with friends, I can’t help but think there will be a lot of things to work out. How will the multi-tasking function? How will the OS of choice handle which screen to use for which operations and what about the power hungry business users, will the battery be sufficient to power two screens for longer than 4 hour? Maybe they will have a dual battery solution, one for each screen. Then again, that would prove to be a rather annoying and potentially long charge time.

What do you guys think? Is there a need for dual screen phones and tablets in our world? Let us know your thoughts about future devices or current devices that are around.
