5-inch 1080p display introduced by LG, cause 720p just isn’t Enough

And you thought your new 720p phone display was crystal clear. LG apparently is attempting to step up the game just a little bit. They have just introduced a 5-inch AH-IPS display that rocks out full 1080p resolution with a dpi of 440. That is really just insane if you ask me. To clarify what that means, LG’s new screen has a higher pixel density per square inch than the Galaxy S III does and it is a larger screen.

We are certain LG will be looking to get this display into one of their Android phones sometime in the second half of 2012. Lets hope that this become the next standard in smartphone screen resolution for next years devices. On the flip side of the coin though, we bet the first round of these screen to go live end up in a devices that are under powered, battery wise. Leave it to manufacturers to do something crazy and then ruin it with a 1,500 mAh battery.

What are your thoughts on the situation. Are we ready for 1080p resolution smartphones? It will definitely through another wrench into the developers tool box.
