Happy June 11th!! We know some of you have been impatiently waiting for today to get here just as much as some of us are waiting for June 21st. The significance of today is only aimed at a one carrier and one device, but it is enough for many to get super excited. Tonight at 11pm EST,
T-Mobile will start rolling out the much anticipated Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update to their Samsung Galaxy S II. About time right? Before you go checking for updates on your device, it is important to know that this won’t be a typical OTA. Instead you will need to install the Samsung Kies software on your PC and connect your device in order to pick it up. I can already hear some of you getting irritated by this. In all reality it is a really simple process and can deliver the update to more people in a shorter amount of time than a typical OTA can do.
Since the update is technically still a few hours away, you may want to get some prep work out of the way. First things first. If you don’t have the
Kies software installed on your PC or Mac yet, hit up
Samsung for the download. Next you will want to make sure you have anything and everything saved to your PC that you might want to keep. Even though this
shouldn’t wipe things out, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Lastly, make sure your battery is charged over 50%. I know, this sounds silly since your device will be plugged in and charging off the PC at the time of the update, but if it isn’t over 50% the system won’t let you update the device until it is. That could add some unnecessary wait time to your update.
If you are all set, then get ready to get some ICS love finally.
