Verizon and AT&T Reps Pushing Customers to Buy Android Over iPhone?

Well this is a pretty funny story fo us Android fanboys to gloat about. Seems a report came out not to long ago stating that AT&T employees were being instructed on trying to sell people Windows and Android phones, over selling them iPhones. To add to that, they were also told not to buy iPhones for themselves. That cracks me up, but you must ask the question, why is this?

I guess there has also been numerous experiences stating that AT&T reps were really pushing for them to not to get the iPhone. Someone also stated that they know someone who works at AT&T, and they mentioned that they get more commission for selling Android phones. Well there is the twist right there. These reps know something we don’t? Well it seems that Verizon employees have now been instructed to do the same practice. Here is a testimony from Jeff Stern when he set foot in a Verizon store:

  • “They released the iPhone 4S because Steve Jobs died so they just threw in a couple more features and pushed it out.”
  • “Apple’s servers are really small and when you use Siri it normally redirects to Google anyway.”
  • “Every icon looks alike on your homescreen and it’s really hard to find applications.”

All things I heard salespeople say in the 40 minutes I was there. I’m certainly not an Apple fanboy. I was in your store to buy an Android phone. But you’re really trying too hard to steer people away from the iPhone and I’m not the only person that’s noticed it.

Sad, but all those statements are absolutely true about the iPhone. Now Stern was in fact visiting this Verizon store to check out the Galaxy S III, but could not believe how the rep was pretty much destroying the image of the iPhone. He then wrote a letter to Verizon stating, “You’re making it sound like Apple isn’t a mobile competitor anymore and your unanimous disdain for their phone doesn’t help the trust between you and I.” Guess Stern is not much of a fanboy because any one of us would have just been bad mouthing the iPhone just as much as the rep. Evil we are.
