HTC Desire S and GSM Rhyme get unannounced ICS Update

The long process of updating a device no matter how new or old it might be is one that causes a lot of frustration for Android users across the globe. While we have seen a number of various devices get their taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, there are still plenty more waiting on prior promises from carriers and manufacturers. The end of August was supposed to be a pretty good time for many HTC owners. The Droid Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt were part of that time frame, but was sadly missed.

We’re aware we missed the deadline and know you’re looking forward to the update. We’re very eager to get ICS to you as well. Right now, we’re actively working with Verizon on ICS software for the Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt, and we’ll notify customers as soon as we have an update.

Sounds a bit more like Verizon is the hang up on this particular update. There were two other devices listed for an August update though, the HTC Desire S and International GSM HTC Rhyme. Apparently HTC did get those updates completed and they are available, but no announcement, twitter post, Facebook post or any other sort of announcement was made about it. Instead they dropped the RUU file to make the update happen on htcdev.com and left it at that.

So if you happen to be sporting one of those devices in the list, you might want to head over to htcdev.com and snag your device specific RUU for some ICS update love.
