BRAVEN announces collaboration with Burton Snowboards to bring rugged outdoor speakers to the slopes

Today, BRAVEN has announced a collaboration venture with a leading snowboarding gear company, Burton Snowboards. The new collaboration takes two of BRAVEN’s best outdoor lines of speakers, the BRV-1 and BRV-X, and adds in a Burton branding to the speaker grills as well as gives them a color update.

The BRV-1 is the smaller of the two speakers with 12 hours of play time, external playback controls, IPX7 waterproof rated and shockproof, can charge your phone and acts as a speaker phone. We took the BRV-1 for a test spin when it was first released and it certainly lived up to our expectations. You can read back through that review HERE. The new Burton version of the same device offers up a new color pallet with a neon green/gray, black/red and black/blue offering. Being the smaller of the two offerings the Burton logo is front and center with the Burton branding just underneath it.

The BRV-X is the party speaker at nearly 3 times the size of the BRV-1. With its size increase BRAVEN boosted the battery size as well to keep it sitting at an outstanding 12 hours of playback. Similar to the BRV-1, the BRV-X also will charge up your device while on the go. Of course that will take your playback time down though. It is also IPX7 waterproof rated and shockproof. The BRV-X has an additional feature dubbed TrueWireless Pairing that lets you pair a set of these bad boys together to give you true left and right stereo sound. The Burton editions of the device are now offered in the same color scheme as the BRV-1’s, being the neon green/gray, black/red and black/blue. With more grill space the Burton logo was shrunk and the Burton branding is prominently displayed.

“The collaboration between Burton and BRAVEN further establishes our best-selling speakers as the preferred options for adventurers,” says Andy Fathollahi, Chief Executive.  “Burton is the absolute authority in winter sport culture and this collaboration is a unique opportunity to take our signature sound to new heights… literally.”

Official pricing is listed at a range of $80 – $250. BRAVEN will have the new speakers on display at the Outdoor Retailer show that is currently underway in Salt Lake City Utah and runs from January 21st to January 24th. I am not familiar with the event, so I am not sure if general admission is possible or not. I did catch the new Burton line at CES 2015 when taking a look at the new BRAVEN BRV-PRO. You can see them on either side of the main image. Oddly, it didn’t even dawn on me to get shots of them.

The news was posted earlier this morning on the BRAVEN site, but the products aren’t listed on their page, or Burtons, just yet. Stay tuned for availability.
