Not since the Dell Streak tablets has Dell ventured into the Android space, however after today’s announcement revealing two new tablets, it looks like they’re ready to get back in the game. As well as announcing two tablets running Windows 8.1, Dell also announced the Dell Venue 7 and Dell Venue 8, intuitively named for their 7-inch and 8-inch displays respectively. Both will be running Android 4.2.2, which will be upgraded to KitKat in the near future.
Both tablets will have a 1280×800 resolution display and have a dual-core Intel Atom processor that is clocked at 2.0GHz. In fact, there is precious little that is different about the two tablets apart from the screen size and the fact that the Venue 8 will be available in 16GB and 32GB, whereas the Venue 7 will only be available in 16GB; a microSD slot is standard. The tablets will also be available in WiFi only or 4G versions. All-in-all, it’s a pretty low-key re-entry for Dell into the Android scene, but hopefully this will be the first step for bigger and better things.
What do you think about Dell rejoining the Android scene with the Venue tablets? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
