The power of the Android community is something that HTC underestimated, and after a large scale petition was unleashed on HTC to try and influence their decision to lock bootloaders, HTC announced that they where going to review their policy on locking bootloaders on Android devices. They had so much feedback from the community that they just announced they are officially reversing their decision.  All future Android devices from HTC will be provided with unlocked bootloaders.
Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC posted the following statement on their Facebook page:
‎”There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience,” Peter Chou, CEO of HTC
This is great news for the Android community, and lets hope all manufactures learn from this and listen to their users.
From all of us, Thank you HTC for listening.
