Documents have just leaked from the GFXBenchmark site for the Nexus 5. Only hours ago, pictures and video leaked of the Nexus 5 running in the wild, after being “conveniently†left unattended at a bar, showing us, even more clearly than those FCC leaks, what we’re looking at in terms of design for the device. The benchmark documents that leaked now can show us what we may see at launch spec wise. Code named Hammerhead, as we’ve seen before, it’s rocking a Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2265MHz, and a display of 1794 x 1080. Interestingly enough, Key Lime Pie is still mentioned here, although it’s known that, even after settling on KitKat 4.4 for the next version of Android, Google still referenced KLP internally as a way to throw off others.
We’re seeing even more clearly that the Nexus 5 is built almost identically to the LG G2, much like the Nexus 4 mirrored the LG Optimus G. The screen resolution shown here is a little odd, but to be expected with the on screen navigation bar. What’s concerning is the expected price point of the Nexus 5, when it is announced. All of the spec leaks point to a very high end device. It will be hard to offer at a price similar to the Nexus 4, which debuted at $299. However, Google has been pushing to bring high end tech to consumers at a very affordable – and sometimes, surprisingly low – price. But can they keep that up with a 5â€, 1080p phone, with a Snapdragon 800 and rumored 13 MP camera?  As more and more leaks come to the surface, I imagine that an announcement is imminent. It wouldn’t surprise me to see invitations from Google here within the next few days. We’ll see everything Google has to offer, as well as what we’ll be paying out of pocket, within the next few weeks, hopefully.
Has the power of the Snapdragon 800 processor, coupled with a 1080p display, convinced you to snatch up the Nexus 5 when it releases? Let us know below.
