When we first heard about Lenovo‘s innovative tablets they were supposed to be running their own custom version of Linux. They have thrown out that idea and have decided to go with Android OS instead.
The “Skylight” smartbook (above) is reportedly powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with 1GHz ARM processor core and was equipped with 10†screen (1024×600 resolution), 20GB flash storage, Wi-Fi, 3GB, typical keyboard and so on.
The other, which I find to be a lot more successful, is the “UI Hybrid,” which has a detachable touch screen tablet, that while docked, runs Windows 7 and when you remove the tablet portion it runs the same custom version of Linux that the Skylight has. Since it’s now being preloaded with Android we don’t know yet if it will keep this same setup or have the ability to dual boot Android and Windows 7 or if it will be all Android. Lenovo is now targeting Q4 as a release for their Android powered devices. Pricing for these devices is rumored to be around $499.
