It only makes sense that if you’re going to spend this much money on a phone you’re going to do your best to protect your investment, and still do it in style.
When the HTC EVO first came out, the case selection was pretty slim, but that has changed and there are two contenders out there right now that I think that are the best cases for this device. Today I’m going to talk to you about Case-Mate’s “Barely-There” case. Within the week I’ll talk to you about another model from a different manufacturer.
First off, this just screams quality, and the plastic has a rich, soft feel to it. It is a one-piece design which covers the entire back and sides of the phone, but leaves the top and bottom panels  (where the power button and USB/HDMI buttons are respectively) exposed. The case also comes with a full screen protective cover and anti-dust wipe.
The cut-outs are extremely precise and it is some of the best protection I’ve seen for the lens. No need to worry about it resting on any hard surface and very professional appearance. The case is a breeze to put on (or take off) and will not come off in your pocket and does not attract any lint. This product offers great protection, especially if you have the front screen protector applied (or market equivalent). My phone in these pictures has the ZAGG Invisishield on the front screen and I did not use the supplied screen protector.
At first I thought the name of the product – “barely there” was a bit awkward. Actually, the name fits. Â The case looks like it is part of the phone itself, as it blends in perfectly. But don’t take my word for it – check it out at case-mate.com and pick out your favorite color. The EVO model comes in Black or Pink with free standard shipping for $19.99. Definitely a sweet deal and it is also available for numerous android models as well.
From a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best? I”ll give this a solid 4. The only thing holding this back from being a 5 is the fact that there is no strip covering the top and bottom panels of the phone as mentioned above. All in all, still the most elegant solution out there that I’ve found for the EVO.
