Rovio’s Bad Piggies shown off in gameplay trailer, not at all what we Expected

While Rovio‘s Angry Birds franchise is without a doubt a bustling one that will continue for years to come, they knew they needed to branch out a bit to keep things rolling. They brought us The Amazing Alex, which was great, just not all that amazing. Next in line is Bad Piggies. Those fun-loving cuddly little pig friends from Angry Birds. We thought for sure this was going to be an Angry Birds spin-off and feature the feathery little foul, but it turns out Rovio is aiming to make this a franchise of its own and are calling it a sibling game instead.

A gameplay trailer was recently released teasing us a little about the new Bad Piggies game. It quickly revealed that this will have nothing to do with Angry Birds, and everything to do with just the pigs, being crazy. Near as we can tell from the video, you will take various items and construct vehicles for the pigs to be transported in. You can see helicopter props, airplane props, rockets, wheels and various other motors and fans. The levels appear to be timed, and you objective is to navigate the various levels quickly and pick up stars along the way.

Your various additions, like propellers, Rockets and soda bottles will all be controlled from the bottom of the screen after your contraption is built and you are ready to go get stars. We have no doubt that the location of each will be critical to completing a level. There should be hours of enjoyment build into this game, right along with hours of trial and error and memorization of where the stars are at.

It is nice to see Rovio adding more games to its portfolio. I know I am exited to give Bad Piggies when it launches on September 27th, are you guys? Check out the full teaser trailer below.
