According to Vodafone the recent Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S that started rolling out over the weekend has since been halted by none other than Google. It seems that even though Samsung has released an update problems are destined to follow, as the update was pulled “due to an issue.” No details pertaining to the actual issues mentioned but rest assured if Google got involved it was probably for the best. Perhaps the most curious thing about the halted update is the source that was released yesterday, which was more than likely picked up by many developers and users alike.
Given time a new update will more than likely present itself however the real question is how much time. As most users have had to wait a while for updates of any kind, will the fix take longer than it takes developers to tweak the course code and fix said “issues” themselves. In my experience as past Captivate owner, it was the developers that fixed the notorious GPS problems long before Samsung released a fix. Just saying.
