Samsung Officially Announces the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A

We knew a Galaxy S4 variant with a Snapdragon 800 and capable of LTE-Advanced was on the cards for awhile now, but today it’s official; Samsung has formally announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A, the world’s first smartphone capable of using LTE-Advanced networks.

The Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be packing a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz and will of course be able to harness the LTE-Advanced 4G which is touted to be twice as fast as standard LTE. The Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be packing the same 2,600mAh battery as the standard S4, but hopefully the new power-saving mechanisms in the Snapdragon 800 and increased power draw from LTE-Advanced will balance out any increased battery usage. All other components appear to be the same as the standard S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be available starting in Korea this summer and will be available in the S4 Blue Arctic and Red Aurora. Exciting stuff, but plenty of countries still don’t have networks capable of using LTE-Advanced yet. However, the phone might still be worth getting for the monster that is Snapdragon 800; I know I would.
