Tomorrow is the big day for Verizon to be fashionably late to the game with the launch of the Nexus 6. It will only be available online to start, but will hit retail stores on the 19th. Coming along for the ride will be Motorola’s more recently announced budget device, the 2nd gen Moto E. The Moto E is a pretty big deal as it launches with Android 5.0 Lollipop and sports a 4.5-inch 540 x 960 resolution screen, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM 8GB on board storage, 5MP camera and a 2390 mAh battery.
The spec outline isn’t absurd for a low-end to mid-ranged device, but the fact it also packs in 4G LTE and is being sold by Motorola for $149 outright makes it pretty attractive. The 2nd Gen Moto E won’t be making its way to a 2-year contract or the Verizon Edge program though. This little guy looks to be headed to the pre-paid sector of big red. Not all that surprising really since Sprint per-paid, Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile and Cricket Wireless are all carrying it too. That doesn’t mean you can’t score one for your post paid account as a possible spare, back-up or replacement for another lines device.
The advert that Phandroid got their hands on doesn’t seem to offer up a price tag specifically from Verizon for the device. I bet it will fall in line with what Motorola is selling it for though.
