Acer Iconia Tab A110 Tegra 3 tablet with Jelly Bean now available for $230

Right out of the gate we can already hear people saying, “Dude, Nexus 7 is way better and cheaper. Why go with an Acer when you can have Nexus 7?”  For many people you are right. For others though there are still to many things missing on the Nexus 7 to make it their tablet of choice. Like HDMI-out and micro SD support. The Acer A110 fills that void for just a little bit more, but isn’t without its own sacrifices.

With the Acer A110 you are getting a 7-inch screen with a 16:9 ratio at 1024 x 600. Internally you get a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and 1 GB of RAM. It sports Android Jelly Bean 4.1 for the OS as well. Where you get a little bit extra is that it also features a Micro-HDMI out and support for up to a 32GB micro SD card. Combine all that with smart power management and you get a fantastic 7.5 hours of battery life.

Granted the device only sports 8GB of internal memory, the SD card support quickly makes up for that flaw. It really doesn’t sound all that bad for $30 more than a Nexus 7. Just don’t expect timely updates for it.

Apple to Oranges. I put the specs on a spreadsheet to help weigh them out a little bit. You can see the Nexus 7 has the advantage in some areas and the A110 has advantages in others.

P.S. I am terrible at spreadsheets and documents. Please forgive me.

Still, there are some compelling differences that could easily lean a person in either direction based on what they really want or need in a tablet. No matter what your choice is, you picked it for a reason. Even with a slightly lower screen resolution and built-in memory, this is a pretty good-looking little device. If this looks and sounds like something you might enjoy having in your house, then by all means click down below and get it ordered.
