Acer’s 10.1 and 7-inch Android Tablets Break Cover

Along with Acer’s smaller 4.8-inch smartphone that we reported earlier, Acer has been hard at work on new devices that are expected to launch in April 2011. As you can see in the image above, Acer’s 10.1-inch tablet has the specs to make this tablet rank pretty high among the competition.

Features of the Acer 10.1 Android tablet include:

  • Google’s “Android TabletOS” (hmmm. Honeycomb?)
  • 1 GHz Tegra II
  • Custom Acer UI
  • 10.1″ TFT WXGA (1280×800) screen
  • 4 megapixel camera on the back
  • HDMI output for 720P playback

To compete with the smaller, more mobile tablets like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Tab, Acer is going to be offering a 7-inch tablet as well. Having held the Samsung Galaxy Tab and an Apple i*ad, the Galaxy Tab is way more realistic as far as tablets go in my own personal opinion, but it will come down to the consumers’ preference.

Features of the Acer 7-inch Android tablet include:

  • Android OS
  • 7″ TFT WXGA (1280 x 800) screen
  • Custom Acer UI
  • 1.2 GHz Qualcomm dualcore CPU

It’s pretty obvious that Acer is looking to take on the competition with their Android tablet offering coming April 2010 and the best thing about this manufacturer competition is that the consumers really win, especially if you can afford to jump from device to device. How many of you are waiting on what the competition brings before you settle for either of these Acer tablets?
