We’ve all heard of the upcoming Amazon AppStore and how it’s going to offer some serious competition to the Google Android Market, the problem is, nobody knows when it’s going live. Â The rumors are that the Amazon AppStore will be going live this month and one way to make sure you’re the first to know is to follow the official Amazon AppStore twitter feed.
We know the only reason you want to know when it goes live is so you can get the new Angry Birds Rio, but there are a multitude of other reason to keep your eye on this new Android application source…. It’s going to be big of course 🙂
The Amazon AppStore Developers portal is already live and hopefully people are starting to get their Android applications uploaded and ready for when the AppStore launches.  I sure hope this takes off big time and will be available to any Android device instead of controlled by Google and their top tier partners.  If there is one thing that should be open, in my opinion, it’s the Android Market.  It should be available on any Android device.  I can understand Google’s reluctance to make their proprietary applications available to everyone, but not the Android Market.  It should be easier for all OEM manufacturers to implement and use the Android Market.
All I can say is “Go Amazon, and please keep it open to all devices!”
What’s your thought! Should the Google Android Market be an open application that anyone can install and give all the manufacturers a fare chance?  Is the Amazon AppStore going to make a big difference?
