After multiple releases dates coming and going the Samsung Droid Charge finally made an appearance in stores last week. Aside from being the first LTE capable member of the “Droid” line the other oddity this device carries is it’s price. At $299 the Droid Charge is easily the most expensive phone Verizon offers at this time exceeding both the Thunderbolt and Incredible 2 launch prices.
So what makes this an almost $300 device? Who knows. Other that the obvious stated above it’s got a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 8MP main camera, 1.3MP front camera, and has the ability to share it’s 3G/4G connection, via WiFi, with up to 10 other devices. If not for the incredible display it’s really no different than the HTC Thunderbolt spec wise.
Anyone that wants or has already purchased this device were/are subject to this rather high initial investment. However there is now a bit of good news for those that were unwilling to pay the $300 fee involved with purchasing Verizon’s newest Droid. Amazon Wireless is now offering the Droid Charge for $199.99 upon signing a new two year contract. At a full $100 off the original price and $50 off a third party retailer pricing this deal finally puts the Charge into perspective. Head on over to Amazon to take advantage of this promotion today. Who’s game?
