And it’s back! Samsung Says Universal Search Removal Was Unintentional

We reported  yesterday that international versions of the Galaxy S3 were receiving an OTA ‘utility’ update that was removing the universal search feature on phones. This feature was deemed illegal in a recent Apple vs Samsung court case in the states, but outside the US it was still free to have. That’s why it came as a surprise when Samsung removed it from universal Galaxy S III‘s.

A Samsung spokesperson told TechRadar that

“The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S III in the UK included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function. Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days.”

So have no fear international readers, your phones will be able to search all local data in one place soon again.
