*no fruit was harmed in the picture (unless you count Apple).
That’s right folks, Andy Rubin has tweeted his second tweet. Â Our “Early Adopter Platform” has been growing like gangbusters. Â We all knew that Android was growing but this is pretty phenomenal growth. Â I’ve been trying to wrap my brain around the numbers. Â That means that there are 2.1 million activations a week. Â That’s amazing. Â As you can see below, over the course of the last 8 quarters Android has shipped a disproportionately large number of units compared to our unfriendly fruit competition.
If you do the math, 300,000 activations a day equals 2.1 million a week and +/- 9 million a month. Â If we keep this growth rate up, well, Apple might become the minority once again. Â I know that the number of iPhones versus Android handsets I see when I go out has heavily skewed in our favor. Â As far as I am concerned that is much more real than analysts telling me. Â Next time you go out in public, look around. Â It is more and more frequently becoming a 3-1 or even 4-1 advantage in terms of Android over iOS devices (at least for me).
