Typically Wednesdays are reserved for Google app updates, but it would appear a number of devices are seeing updates today that brings Android 5.0 Lollipop to users. AT&T is in the process of shipping out the update to the LG G3 through typical FOTA updates. The update will come through carrying Android 5.0.1 with a software version number of D85020f. Beyond getting your hands on the nearly the latest version of Android that is out, it would appear the “what’s changing” section also lists the removal of the Google Setup wizard (R2G removed) and stability improvements.
The update will roll out in typical staged fashion and will require a Wi-Fi connection in order to download and install the 689 – 721MB size update files. It is always recommended to back up any documents, photos or anything you care to not lose just in case something does go wrong. If you are a LG G3 owner on AT&T you should pop into your device settings > general > about phone > software update and check for the update now. Be sure you have that Wi-Fi connection available, well over 50% battery life and some time to wait for the process to complete.
Enjoy!
