Every month we see new statistics showing Android’s rapid growth over specified periods of time, with every report showing numbers which dwarf those of the past. Having said none of these reports ever show the effect the growing popularity has on the app market. According to Google marketing sales directors Ian Carrington the Android App Market has seen 4.5 billion downloads since it’s debut in the mobile scene. Having taken 2 years to hit 1 billion downloads recent reports show that these numbers are now hit within 60 days. Given the current rate of 500k activations per day it’s easy to assume that these numbers will likely see a greater increase throughout the rest of the year.
