Android Device Manager Is Live Now, Never Lose Your Phone Again

android device managerThe service that Google said they would launch this month, Android Device Manager, is now live, allowing you to pinpoint (to varying degrees of accuracy) where your Android devices are located. From the Android Device Manager web interface, you’ll be able to see your selected device’s current whereabouts, and whether you want to make the phone ring, or erase all its data.

To be able to erase your device’s data, you have to first enable factory reset from the Google Settings app, which has already been sighted turning up on phones even before the service went live. Alternatively, if you’re the type of person that loses your phone in the room that you’re in, you can make the phone ring at full volume for 5 minutes .If it’s not quite working for you, there are some extra steps you may need to take to get it working with your device which you can find here.

It’s obviously great to finally have the service supported by Google itself, and having it linked in with its new Google Maps is even better. Hopefully you won’t ever need to use it, but it’s definitely a load off your chest to know that the option is there.
