As many of you will know, the Android L preview is available to play with for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, and there are lots of new apps and changes that are coming to the surface. One of the most prominent changes is the new Google keyboard, as influenced by the Material Design direction that Google has started taking with Android L. Thankfully, for those of us who don’t have a Nexus 5 or Nexus 7, there are some very clever follows out there who have been dismantling the preview and as a result, the Android L keyboard is now available for download from the Google Play Store.
Previous attempts to get the new Material-designed keyboard on other Android devices required root, a custom recovery and a flashable zip. Shen Ye has done away with this requirement and introduced a standalone app which can be installed on any device with Android 4.0 or higher without the need for root access. If you do install the keyboard, you may need to do a bit of fiddling by going into the settings and changing to the Material design which you can see above, as it is not currently default.

Update: SURPRISE! Google Pulled it. However, the developer, Shen Ye, has put it out there on Mega for everyone to grab if they want.
