Last week, we reported about an Android vulnerability that has been affecting Android phones since Android 1.6 Donut. Bluebox Security, who discovered the vulnerability, found that only the Samsung Galaxy S4 was immune. This caused a fair amount of worry among the Android community because although the vulnerability has not been exploited in apps, it is essentially an accident waiting to happen. Have no fear though, for Google is here. Just yesterday, Gina Scigliano, Google’s Android Communications Manager, said that while there was no official statement on the vulnerability, Google has provided OEMs with a patch that addresses the issue.
So as we suspected, it is up to the manufacturers to roll out this fix to us. Let’s hope that their previous track records don’t mean anything in this instance and it comes sooner rather than later.
Are you glad to hear that there is a fix for this vulnerability? Are you confident your phone’s manufacturer is going to get the fix to you quickly? Let us know what you think in the comments.
