Chih-Wei Huang of the Android-x86 project posted a notice to the project’s Google Groups mailing list stating that ISO images of the new 2.2 build are available!
If you’ve got one of the supported devices—including many in the Asus Eee line, Viewsonic ViewPad 10 and Dell Inspiron Mini Duo—then head on over and snag the appropriate image for your device and give it a go. There’s also a generic image available, appropriate for running within VirtualBox. I just snagged it myself and got it running within VirtualBox in minutes.
And the images are “Live CDs”, too. So if you want to simply give Froyo a try without having to dedicate hard drive space or sink time into a full install, you can!
There are a few known issues, though. According to the release notes:
- Camera doesn’t work well
- Wifi and Ethernet cannot be turned on simultaneously.
- Suspend and resume doesn’t work on some targets.
Try it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
