I still remember hearing the title “Angry Birds” three years ago when my friend let me know about it. I thought, really? A game about birds that are angry? Sounds stupid. And, well, it is stupid! Stupid how addicting the game is! As soon as it hit the market, it took off. The creators came up pure gold. Launching crazy looking birds at structures that green pigs sit under, is about the stupidest idea for game that anyone could come up with. Someone was smoking something mind bending, and they discussed this idea over a huge bag of Doritos Nacho Cheese chips. Soon as they sobered up, they got to work and now they are millionaires. I always wondered when the movie was going to be made. Finally, we have that answer.
David Maisel has signed on to produce the Angry Birds movie. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, are just some of the movies Maisel has been attached to in the past. John Cohen has also signed on to the project, and he was attached to Despicable Me, which is a hilarious animated flick. The movie is scheduled to release sometime in 2016. Wow. Little more than 3 years from now. I am wondering if the birds long ride will fizzle out by then. They are not as popular as they once were, which makes me think; why it is taking so long to get a movie out? Now that it is finally being talked about, we still have to wait about 3 years.
So what do you guys think? Little too late for this movie? I truly think so. I mean Rovio can do there best be releasing more versions and levels for their Angry Birds games, but by the time this movie hits the silver screen, Angry Birds will be yesterday’s news like skinny jeans will hopefully be. One can only hope.
