AnTuTu Updated to v3.01

I’ve heard it a million times that benchmarks are worthless and only real-world testing can give you a true measure of a device. And…so what? Benchmarking allows direct comparison between devices using standardized tests. If there’s a way for me to numerically compare my device to another, I’m all for it.

AnTuTu, the benchmark of benchmarking apps was recently updated to version 3.01. Aside from having a new icon, there’s a completely new OpenGL 2.0 3D and 2D gaming benchmark. The list of updates includes:

v3.01
– New OpenGL ES 2.0 3D benchmark for 3D game performance test.
– Fully new 2D benchmark for 2D game performance test.
– Add compare page to compare scores with hot devices.
– Auto stop the benchmark if detected the app has been modified.
– Redesigned and adjustment app UI.
– Enhance SDCard path detection.
– Fixed some web page auto pop up bug.
– Fixed sometimes get stuck in splash screen.
– Fixed submit score page appear twice after benchmark.
– Update Italian and Ukraine translate.

With these updates, full benchmarks now include “Memory Performance”, “CPU Integer Performance”, “CPU Floating point Performance”, “2D 3D Graphics Performance”, “SD card reading/writing speed”, and “Database IO” performance testing. Users familiar with the app will notice the changes in the performance tests. See if you can notice the changes in my screenies.

My only persistent gripe with AnTuTu is that it still thinks that I have an EVO 3D. In some places it says I have an EVO LTE (which is what I really have), but in places such as the graphs it says I have a 3D.
