Apex Launcher has definitely become one of the MUST-HAVE launchers since we started getting ICSÂ ROMs handed out to us. Nova Launcher was the first ICS launcher to turn heads, but Apex came out and said, “Let me get some of that frozen treat action,” and action is what it got. I was all about Nova at first, but then decided to try the other white meat, and I fell in love. Apex started getting a little more hefty in the feature department and I got hooked.
Well the Apex boys have a nice little treat for us. They now released a beta version of their new Jelly Bean Android 4.1 based launcher. What does this mean? Jelly Bean features and buttery smoothness, that is what. Here is what you will be getting:
- Rebuilt based on Android 4.1.1 Launcher, lots of JellyBean goodness
- When placing widgets on the screen, everything else automatically moves to make room
- When they are too big, widgets resize on their own to fit on the homescreen
- Quickly remove apps/widgets by flinging them to the edge of the homescreen
- Major performance boost for homescreen and drawer
- New app enter/exit animations (JB only)
- Switched to phone layout on 7″ tablets (e.g., Nexus 7)
- Added background for widgets in the drawer
- Fixed icon ordering bug within folders
- Other improvements and bugfixes
- Unlimited drawer tabs and new drawer management UI (pro)
- Improved drawer tab switching for vertical drawers (pro)
- Fixed Play Store widgets on JellyBean
- Fixed paid theme (icon pack) issue on JellyBean
- Lots of other improvements and enhancements
- Updated translations
Oh yeah, they have already updated their beta version which landed today. Think they pushed their baby bird out just a little to soon, so this update has fixes for some of the features. So I highly recommend you guys giving the new and improved Apex Launcher a try. Been running it on my JB ROM and its like silk. Click the link down below to take you to the original thread.
