[App] Fast Burst Camera, for those of us with out an HTC One or Galaxy S III

There is no doubt in any of our minds that the HTC One series of devices and the Samsung Galaxy S III aren’t incredible devices. While some of what is appealing to them is hardware specs, most of what we all go ‘WOW’ to is software. The new Popup Play on the S III is pretty awesome software that lets you multitask a video on your screen with full audio and still do other things on your device, such as email, the web and text messaging. We have pointed out that an app by MBFG called Stick it! does the same thing and more for a small fee. It is a pretty great app. What about all the cool things you see with the cameras on those devices though?

Well, one of the more prominent features of the devices is the speedy camera. being able to take a bunch of photos at once and selecting the ‘best shot’. I bet you didn’t know there is an app out there that can make your current device do the same thing, did you? We searched out a few different developers apps and decided on one, at least for now, that we thought had the best support and best description. The developer, Spritefish, has a few apps in the Play Store that definitely worth your time. We are going to focus on one called Fast Burst Camera. Oddly enough, it has been out quite some time now. It allows you to take 30 photos per second with your current Android device. Assuming you have a semi newer and semi powerful device. On lower end devices you can snap anywhere from 5 to 10 per second. Which is still pretty great.

We tested out the app on a Samsung Vibrant running Ice Cream Sandwich. I must say, I was rather pleased with its settings and performance so far. The app comes in a free lite form to let you test it out. The lite version has many limitations so we picked up the paid version. In the paid version you can adjust the resolution of the pictures you are taking, the time between photos, single click shooting, screen touch actions and screen blink. You can turn the shutter sound on or off and even change the exposure settings right on the screen. Lets not forget the zoom either. All of which are part of the paid version. Telling you it works and that it is great is one thing, seeing a short video of it in action is another. Check out their YouTube video of the app.

I recently used this app to snap over 200 photos of my friends daughters graduation today, not missing a single moment, smile or slip up. He is going to be extremely happy when I send all those over to him. There are still a few limitations. I found that lowering the resolution slightly and killing the shutter sound along with the screen blink made it work much better for me.

Of course this is a separate application, it is not an add on to your current camera. So unlike the HTC One series and Galaxy S III, you have to open this separately. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth your time or money to check it out. The full version will run you $3.99, but if you are unable to upgrade currently, or wish your phone/tablet camera could snap oodles of photos quickly, you can. Below you will find the limited Lite version and the Paid version of the app. Check the description for some extra information and the limitations of the free app. We have a feeling you will love both and like to show off that your phone is almost as cool.
