[App Review] Solid Explorer, the File Explorer to Rule Them All

If you are anything like me, you like to keep your files clean. While most Android devices come with a built-in file manager, they either 1) are lacking features or 2) look awful. Step into the world of Solid Explorer Beta2. Don’t let the Beta part fool you though, this is one of the most beautiful and full-featured apps I have used in a long time.

Features

Like most file explorers, this application has the ability to read ZIP, TAR and RAR files along with being able to create ZIP and Tar files from you device. You can also install, move, copy, and cut files. And for rooted users, it can do system mounting and change permissions. One of the most impressive features though, which is unique is its ability to interface with your cloud based storage. After linking either Dropbox, Box, Google Drive or Skydrive you have he ability to easily sync files back and forth between your local and cloud storage. If you like you cloud home based it also supports FTP, SFTP and SMB/CIFS clients.

Looks and Interface

The user interface is beautiful and  intuitive.  There are 2 themes, light and dark. They both fit in very well with the Holo theme. The interface is well laid out and gives multiple options for viewing your files. There are very nice charts that lay out your available storage and where it is being used.

Final Thoughts

This app is beautiful and intuitive and has a top-tier feature set. I believe this should be on every Android device and will always be one of the first apps I download.

Description

Solid Explorer is a file manager with two independent panels which brings to you a new file browsing experience. This is the most attractive, eye catching and intuitive file manager for the Android.———————————————————IMPORTANT!Many people complain about the need of install the BusyBox.
Even if you think it’s not necessary, you’re wrong. If you’re rooted you really should have these binaries installed (they are included in every custom rom) and even if you think that it’s installed probably it needs to be updated to the latest version. Otherwise root functions will not work. So please download the installer when prompted, open it and tap “Install” button. After that you can remove the installer. Thank you.———————————————————The application is still in development state and may be UNSTABLE so please treat it with understanding.
It is really recommended to send crash reports with detailed information about the problem. This will help me to solve eventual issues faster.Main features:
1. Two independent panels for browsing
2. Drag and Drop inside and between panels
3. FTP, SFTP and SMB/CIFS clients
4. File sharing via FTP
5. Support for ZIP, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 and RAR archives
6. Creating ZIP and TAR archives
