ASUS denies Transformer Prime WiFi issues, still planning December 19th Launch

Rumors began to fly around the Internet a couple days ago about the ASUS Transformer Prime and an apparent WiFi issue that would prevent the tablet from launching on December 19th. It seems as though online retailer NCIX, the source of the rumor, may have taken in more orders than they could fulfill. After multiple orders were cancelled, the rumors started in that the device was being held back by ASUS to ensure every last bug was squashed before the device’s launch date — even if that meant pushing said launch date back.

Something just didn’t sit right with me on this one, considering we haven’t heard a peep about any WiFi problems. Apparently it didn’t with someone at The Verge either, who reached out to ASUS and received the following response:

At this point, we still show to be on schedule to start shipments the week of 12/19. I will provide an update once I have additional information.

Of course, this is all turning into a bunch of he-said she-said at this point, but hey — at least it keeps us entertained, right? For now, we’ll leave this as a “that rumor never happened,” but we’re going to have to wait about eight more days to find out who’s pulling whose chain.
