Remember that GarminPhone? I do, it was adorable, albeit kind of useless. I know two people who bought them, and returned them quickly. Their decision to release that phone always confused me, since I have always enjoyed Asus’ quirky looking but extremely functional hardware. Asus did not, however, convey that message in their Smartphone. They are not giving up, though. Asus has decided to make some image changes for their next Smartphone release, starting with removing the Garmin branding from the phone.
It’s not fair to fully blame Garmin. In all reality, the device had a few flaws, and the most offensive of which was the overlay on Android that made things slow and difficult to use. There were several arguments as to whether or not the Garmin powered GPS was even helpful. Either way, Asus has committed to make some changes. The next device from Asus will not be branded by Garmin, though the partnership will still remain. Hopefully Asus has decided that more then just a re-branding needs to be made, and the result will be a quality Android device from Asus.
