ASUS to unveil PadFone at Mobile World Congress on February 27th [W/ Hands-On Video]

ASUS PadFone

It’s been some time now since we first heard about the ASUS PadFone, the Taiwanese computer maker’s new phone / tablet hybrid, rumored to be running Ice Cream Sandwich with a full dose of Nvidia Tegra 3 goodness. Thanks to Modaco, we’ve just been informed ASUS has confirmed Mobile World Congress as the official venue for the unveiling of the PadFone. Along with Paul’s post, there was also a video of the device in what looks to be a behind-closed-door press viewing and Nicole Scott from NetbookNews was lucky enough to actually grace her palm with the phone for a few minutes.

In the video, we can hear an ASUS rep confirm that the PadFone will be compatible with the same docking station as the original Transformer TF101 — a great move on ASUS’s part, in my opinion. It’s always nice to see your investments survive another round of technological upgrades, as many times we aren’t as lucky and end up having to upgrade accessories as well. Additionally in the video, Nicole discovers a section in the app drawer that looks to contain pad-specific apps, which should pan out to be an interesting addition when the phone hits the streets. Have a look for yourself.

With Mobile World Congress less than a month away, it’s already starting to look like 2012 is going to be one helluva year for the Android community. What do you think, folks?
