If you happened to drop by the site yesterday after noon you were greeted by one of the few retailer created ads that seemed to directly assault the iPad. While many people gave major kudos to Best Buy for displaying this ad on their site, it has since been pulled. The ad, as seen below, depicts an iPad-like tab duct taped to a keyboard, which is merely a reference to the fact that the Transformer has an available keyboard dock. Above said picture you will see the words “Like That. But Better.” Which we would imagine didn’t set well with Apple, and could be the reason the ad has disappeared.
With new innovations debuting on Android tablets like HTC’s Scribe Technology and the Transformer’s dockable keyboard with an extra battery, the tablet world seeks to travel a road less traveled, truly uniting the missing link between our everyday PCs and new mobile devices.
Of course none of these innovations have been seen by Apple, as the new iPad 2 aside from fancy cases merely offers a slight revamp of the original. Which goes to show you that Steve Job’s “copy cat” allegations about Android no longer hold water, as these newer devices seek to go places iPad has not yet attempted. While there’s no denying the iPad 2 is an exceptional tablet device, which regrettably is a bit more refined then current offering in the Android world. Statistics from the last year show Android is rapidly gaining ground both as an operating system and through the advances made by manufactures. Apple has been around a bit longer and therefore may be seen as having a a slight advantage, but given time that hill will be leveled. When that day comes no longer will Android devices be thought of as a comparison to something Apple already did rather an evolution of something completely different. Judging by new device offerings debuting, that day is approaching quickly.
