Box app updates and offers 50GB of cloud storage to all Android Users

Well this is a double whammy of a post. The much-loved Box service that provide cloud storage for files, photos and other types of information, has just been updated in the market. The update to the app is another step in the right direction for users of the service. It now provides the ability to view and add comments to files, invite folder collaborators, new UI update with standard ‘Action Bar,’  App2SD and localized languages for German, French and Italian. Not to mention an improved uploading experience including the ability to batch upload multiple files. A pretty solid update that offers more than just the usual ‘bug fixes’ that we often see.

The app getting an update isn’t really the exciting pat. Lets face it, if you have the app already, you would have been notified at some point and time. What is really exciting is the newest offer from Box. Many of you may remember back in December when Box partnered with Sony Ericsson and LG to offer those device owners 50GB of free storage? While the offer was great, the rest of us were left out. We know many people got creative and did a few modifications to get their device to clear as an LG or Xperia device to snag the offer. While it worked, it was still a bit scandalous. Well, no longer do you have to try to hack into your device to get 50GBs of free space. Box has just announced that they are extending the 50GB of free storage to all Android users. Yep, you read that correctly, if you have an android device, go get Box for 50GB of free storage. That is a pretty sweet deal indeed. Oh, and yes the 50GB is free for life, not just for trial period or with future payments required.

Whats the catch? Nothing, isn’t that great to hear? You do have a limited time to snag the extra space though. The promotion for all Android device will end on March 23rd at 11:59PM PST. How do you get it you ask? Great question here are the instructions –

1. Visit the Android Marketplace and download Box for Android
2. Log into your account or register for a new one directly from the app
3. Start sharing and collaborating in the cloud
4. (optional but recommended) Tell the world how you’ll use your 50GB with the hashtag #Box50GB

Pretty fool-proof and isn’t some sort of beta software or anything. Along with the bump in storage space, they have also upped the file size that can be uploaded to 100mbs. Sounds like Dropbox is about to get dropped from my phone shortly. Click or scan the handy-dandy QR code below to head to the market and get it installed for your free 50GB of storage.
