Calendar search added to Gmail Search Field Trial

One thing Google does well on a constant basis, is try new things. You don’t always see these things implemented right away, but you sure do have the option of trying them out for yourself. Google announced something new on their G+ page today that expands the Gmail Search Field Trial program to include Calendar returns. The new addition to the trial program will allow you to type in certain words like [ what is on my calendar today] and see it pop up.

With all that you juggle every day, its easy to lose track of appointments, plans, and reminders. With today’s expansion of our Gmail Search Field Trial (http://goo.gl/dQGNs), we’ve added Calendar results to your Gmail and Drive results.

You can also type in a direct questions such as “when am I meeting Brian”, and see the calendar event for when your meeting is set. It is a pretty cool function. If you sign up for the trial it will also locate files in your Drive account and search out relevant emails for something you are searching for. For more information and to sign up for the trial search experiments, head over to the Search Experiments page on Google.  It is limited to the U.S. for now and only available for @gmail.com accounts, not Google Apps accounts, like @androidstory.com.
