One of the greatest things about the Galaxy Nexus is that it’s a pure Google device, which means that it has more development than any other device on the market right now. I was surfing the forums today, mainly Rootzwiki, and found a ROM that tasted to my liking the moment I clicked on it: Black Ice by travp624. It’s got some reminscence of the Black and Cyan theme by gsxrdon, but most of the theming has been done by the developer himself. The ROM is also built off of AOKP source, and from the looks of it, it’s incredibly solid.
If you’re not familiar with AOKP, it’s a ROM built by Team Kang, led by RomanBB. Basically, it’s similar to CyanogenMod, and offers a TON of tweaks which are available to your device. Also, the ROM is built off of AOSP source, which means that you’re getting the real deal. There’s also no visual changes to the ROM either, so for all you stock freaks, you’ll be glad to know that this ROM looks stock ICS. A lot of Galaxy Nexus owners tend to use AOKP as their ROM of choice, simply because it has a ton of tweaks, while maintaining that stock look and feel.
The ROM runs on Android 4.0.3, has AOKP source baked into it, and runs on the stock kernel. You can obviously load up your own kernels such as Franco’s or Imoseyon’s, but this is what comes baked in for now.
So far for me, the ROM has been blazing fast, but that’s probably because it’s built off of AOKP source. Nonetheless, the ROM has its own custom themes, such as keyboard themes, blacked out Applications, and built in battery mods. Other than that, it’s got most, if not all, of the features we’ve come to known and love on AOKP. Check out the gallery below for more screenshots of the ROM in action.
