It looks like the Dell Streak might become the first Android device to head to the medical field as the folks over at Reuters are reporting that Dell is trying to get this device into lab coat pockets. The Dell Streak offers a 5″ display that would make it easy for patients to see while also fitting into a doctor’s lab coat.
With medical records being filed electronically, it makes sense that Dell would be pushing for this. Dell said Tuesday that they are working on implementing their established healthcare software making the device capable of accessing patient records whereever they are. Now that Dell has purchased Perot Systems for $3.9 billion, they already have their hands in the healthcare system. The idea of the Dell Streak makes perfect sense as doctors can utilize the camera on the device to capture images of injuries and other progress to attach to medical records.
This is the technology that we need that will make doctor visits shorter and more efficient.
What do you all think about this idea?
