Motorola have out done themselves this time. This is one crazy looking device. The Motorola FlipOut (aka. Ruth), as it’s been called, takes an unconventional approach to flipping out a physical keyboard from underneath it’s body. The FlipOut will be sporting Android 2.1 and a new version of MotoBlur to boot.
It’s set for a worldwide / Brazil release in June, according a source at Gizmodo Brazil, and will cost R$ 699 with equates to almost $400 US. Most of the talk was related to the release in Brazil so we are not sure about a US release date, but we’ll see what we can dig up. The device has a very small display so it will be interesting to see how usable the device is. They do say that it’s not the size that counts, but how you use it :) My guess is it’s aimed at the younger market but we’ll see what happens.
Not too much else is known about the device, but the following specs have been thrown around:
- 700 MHz processor
- 2.8 “display
- 512 ROM
- 256 MB RAM
- 3.1 MP Camera
- GPS
