Droid 2 Compared to Original Droid with Video and Benchmarks!

A few days ago, we saw the initial screenshot of the Motorola A955 , which is actually the Verizon upcoming Droid 2.  After some time, we saw a new clearer shot of the Droid 2, in which we assumed the design of the mobile was similar to the original Droid. The only difference we saw was the keyboard, which has been slightly updated and the D-Pad has been removed.  This was one of the biggest complaints for current Droid users. The new keyboard on the Droid 2 is much nicer and easier to use. Later on, Gizmodo showed up with some new shots of the Droid 2, in which we can assume that the handset is running the new version of Motoblur (probably NinjaBlur), which is said to be way better than the old version. They also let us know that the device is running 1 GHz processor, with 8GB internal memory, 5 MP Camera with LED Flash, and Android 2.1. It’s rumored that the device will feature Android 2.2 before hitting the shelves. The Droid 2 is similar to the original Droid, but everything is changed under the hood.

The people over at Android and Me got their hands on the Droid 2, and they compared it with the original Droid (video in the end). They also ran some benchmarks on the powerful 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP3630. The new Droid 2 is 2x faster than the original Droid. Android and Me is claiming that this is the best performing phone with Android 2.1 yet, and when it carries Android 2.2, then it will blow you away.

What are we waiting for now? We are waiting for Verizon to come out and officially announce this device. We already saw Verizon teasing us by showing the Droid X on their site, so I think the Droid 2 is around the corner. Don’t forget, in 2 days Verizon, Google, and Motorola are holding a press event in which they will be unleashing the next generation of Droid. Lets hope they will officially announce the Droid X and Droid 2. I am sure that this week is going to be a very interesting week.
