Droid4 First Photos: Does the 4 stand for 4G (LTE)?

Kellex over at Droid-Life must practically work for Moto (maybe he’s Sanjay‘s blogging alter ego?), ’cause one thing I wasn’t expecting today was to already be seeing the Droid 4, but what do you know, here it is.

Here’s what’s being reported by way of specs:

  • 4″ screen (assuming Super AMOLED Advanced)
  • Full 5-row “illuminated” keyboard
  • RAZR styling
  • 4G LTE
  • Non-removable battery
  • Android 2.3.5
  • 1080p video recording (assuming 8MP)
  • Front camera
  • HDMI out
  • MotoACTV syncing

Some random thoughts:

I’m not terribly hopeful on the screen not being a PenTile matrix, since I see the jagged edges on the green areas in the photo of the display, even with the relatively low-level macro, but here’s to hoping that this is a pre pre pre production test mule or something.

In the top down view, it’s probably just a lighting artifact, but it looks like the slider is a bit sloppy on the left side.

The keyboard looks great, and I’ve long been a proponent of backlit keys/keyboards.

Gingerbread should be a test thing too, since ICS should long be out before this handset sees the light of day.

It’s not very encouraging that Moto’s going the way of Apple with these sealed-in batteries, I sure hope they don’t get sued for it!
