If you want to use your Captivate as a Wireless Access point so you can surf the web from your PC through your AT&T Samsung Captivate phone, user designgears on XDA has the applications for you. Jr33 originally convert the Access Point application from the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 to the Samsung Vibrant. designgears then tweaked the kernel for the Captivate to allow the wlp2pservice to run, which is required by mobileAP and disabled by ATT. The mod also enables the USB Tethering functionality.
As we do not have an AT&T Samsung Captivate to test, we cannot validate any of the information in this post. Performing this modification could damage your phone. We are not responsible for any problems that may occur.
