Official word has come down the wire confirming that the unlocked HTC Desire will start receiving Android 2.2 via OTA update this weekend. Engadget has confirmed the update, which comes shortly after it was announced that the HTC Evo 4G would be receiving the long awaited firmware upgrade. HTC must have its Sense UI ready for the world. Users will be prompted for the OTA update and must follow the given instructions, we don’t want to see any more bricked devices.
What can you find in HTC’s update that’s not found in stock Android 2.2?
HTC is going all out, promising several features not in stock 2.2:
- 720p video recording
- iTunes syncing via HTC’s Sync software
- The “AppShare” widget
- Smart CallerID
- This over-the-air update is said that it will NOT delete any existing user data.
HTC has also stated that for the carrier-locked Desire, you should start seeing the update in a couple of weeks. August should be a delicious month for HTC owners.
